Pawtucket and East Providence bank robbery suspect arrested

EAST PROVIDENCE – The East Providence Police Department, in conjunction with the Pawtucket Police Department, reports the arrest of Kevin Donovan, 41, of Weymouth, Mass. in a bank robbery that occurred on May 23 at the Citizens Bank branch located at 622 Taunton Ave. in East Providence and the Citizens Bank branch located at 539 Smithfield Ave. in Pawtucket on June 4, 2019.

East Providence and Pawtucket police detectives were able to identify Donovan as the suspect in both bank robberies.

On June 12, detectives learned that Donovan was in a shopping plaza in Haverhill, Mass. Detectives immediately notified the Haverhill Police Department and a short time later were notified that the Haverhill police had Donovan in custody. Detectives from both agencies responded to Haverhill to continue the investigation.

Donovan is being held in Massachusetts as a fugitive from justice on robbery warrants from East Providence and Pawtucket.

The investigative team was led by East Providence Det. Jeffrey Mace and Pawtucket Det. Paul Trout. Helping in the investigation were East Providence detectives Kris Ellinwood, Matthew McNulty, Michael Spremulli, William Dubois and Steven Rodrigues as well as Pawtucket Det. Michael Cioe.
